                       Full Moon in Virgo
                              Ice Moon
The February full moon is also known as the Crow Moon, Storm Moon, Snow Moon, Hunger Moon, and the Big Winter Moon - please know that there are many other names for each full moon, it depends entirely upon the source and tradition.
Usually in the month of February much of the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing icy conditions...however, with global warming the atmosphere and our Mother Earth is changing at an alarming rate.  For this post we will stick with the Ice Moon.

The moon will enter into Virgo at 6:24 am and she will become completely full at 1:20 pm EST.  I just went out on the front porch and gazed awhile at this very icy and cold looking moon (though not completely full) here in old Salem Towne.  The atmosphere is unusually calm and the cloud's are whispy and flowy creating a lovely frame for our lunar goddess.  This is a time of year to renew your commitment to yourself and to your deities.  It is a rather quiet time and for me that is the time when I can "hear" very clearly.  I can hear the whispers of instructions and guidance along with advisement on how to deal with situations with grace and dignity.  Perhaps if you become quiet and still you will "hear" too!

It's a good time to purify vibrations by removing negative ones and inviting positive ones into your space and life.  Prepare your environment, mind, body and spirit to become receptive to positivity.

The Virgo moon is ruled by Mercury, it is feminine, dry, barren, and earth energy.  This is a good time for analyzing data, situations and relationships.  It is also an excellent time to care for your animals (not that you don't) but an especially good time for training and getting check ups.  This moon is also good for carrying out decisions that have been made regarding work and future plans.  Try to keep looking at the forest and make sure that though trees are lovely,  that they don't get in the way of the forest.  In other words keep your eye on the larger picture and the grand scheme of things no matter what your particular situation is.  Patience is needed however try not to focus too much on details.  In Laurie Cabot's Book of Spells she states, "The Crow Moon is a time of mystery and majick, of endings and the potential of new beginnings.  It is a great time to get psychic insight into the coming growing season, or to do majick for unusual and strange things that would not normally work at other times in the year."

I hope you all enjoy this quiet time, a time to curl up on the couch and read, write or do handwork.  Time to get your thoughts and plans together (and on paper) for spring is right around the corner and all things new rapidly approach.  You will need focus, energy, receptiveness, and skill...it's going to be one heck of a spring everyone!
